Merlio.NET and Windows 10

Tuesday, March 01, 2016

We have been extensively testing Windows 10 (Win10) with our products for the last 6 months, and are pleased to say we have discovered no incompatibilities.

We are therefore formally giving the green light for our clients to update to Win10 if desired, and you will be fully supported.

On performing a Win10 upgrade, we have discovered one slight issue where Win10 will sometimes automatically assume a locale of the United States. This will make the date in the bottom right hand corner of the desktop appear in US format (Month/Day/Year), which can have some unwanted effects on Merlio and its transaction histories.

If this is the case after you've upgraded, apply the following options:

  • Click on the time and date in the bottom right hand corner of the screen. A full calendar should appear.
  • At the base of this calendar is a link labelled Date and time settings. Press this.
  • You'll be taken to a settings screen with the title Date and time. At the bottom of this page is a section labelled Related Settings. Under this, there is a link Additional date, time & regional settings. Click this link.
  • A screen should appear with some further options, one of these will be Region, under which will be another link labelled Change Location. Click this.
  • Make sure that your location is set to United Kingdom in the Location tab, and make sure after this is selected that the date formats are correct in the Formats tab.

If you have any issues, or just simply want us to check the format and make the changes for you after you have upgraded, then please do not hesitate to call the helpdesk on 08454 300310.
